Story Weaver is a service operated by Troven Inc. ("Troven", "we", "us") of Guelph, Ontario, Canada. This notice explains what we collect when you create a book, what we do with it, who else sees it, and when it is deleted.
The short version: your photos are used to make your book and nothing else. They are never sold and never used to train any AI model. To print and ship a physical book, the finished book file and your shipping address are sent to our print partner. Photos and digital copies are deleted automatically on the schedule described in Section 4.
To create a book, we collect:
Payment is processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card number. Stripe handles card data directly under its own privacy policy and security standards.
Your photos are used for one thing: making your book.
They are never sold. They are never used to train any AI model. They are not shared with anyone except as described in Section 3 below, which covers what is required to actually print and ship the book you ordered.
Photos are stored on private servers located in Canada and are not accessible to anyone outside Troven.
Producing and delivering a book requires a small number of service providers. Each receives only what it needs:
Some of these providers operate outside Canada, which means your information may be processed in another country and be subject to that country's laws. We do not sell your information to anyone.
Photos are deleted automatically. You do not need to request it.
Your photos. Once you upload photos, we use them to generate and print your book. Your original photos are deleted from our servers shortly after your book has been sent to our printer, Lulu, for production. If you don't complete an order, your uploaded photos are deleted automatically 14 days after you receive your review link (matching how long that link stays valid).
Your digital copy. After you order a printed book, we keep a digital copy of the finished book available for you to download for 7 days after your book is delivered. After that, it's deleted from our servers. If a package is lost or delivery is never confirmed, we keep the digital copy for up to 60 days from your order date as a safeguard, then delete it.
You're never required to ask us to delete anything — this happens automatically.
After your photos and digital copy are deleted on the schedule above, we retain a limited record of your order — your name, email address, what you ordered, and the transaction record — for accounting, tax, and customer-service purposes, as required by Canadian law. Your child's name, age, and interests are deleted along with the photos.
Story Weaver is a service for adults — parents, grandparents, and other family members — purchasing a book for a child. It is not directed at children, and children do not create accounts or use the service directly.
You must be at least the age of majority in your province or territory to use Story Weaver, and by uploading a photo you confirm that you are the parent or legal guardian of any child pictured, or that you have express permission from that child's parent or guardian to use the photo for this purpose. If a photo includes a child other than your own — a classmate, teammate, or friend, for example — that permission requirement applies to them too.
We process photos and information about a child solely to produce the book you ordered, and for no other purpose. We do not build profiles, we do not use this information for advertising, and we do not retain it beyond the schedule described in Section 4.
Photos and order data are stored on private servers in Canada with access restricted to authorized Troven personnel. Data is encrypted in transit. No system is perfectly secure, but if a breach ever created a real risk of significant harm to you, we would notify you and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada as required under Canadian privacy law.
You may at any time:
Email mikem@troven.ca and we will confirm deletion within 5 business days. Note that once a printed book has been sent to the printer, we cannot recall the file from that process — but we will delete everything we hold.
We may update this notice as the service develops. The revised version will be posted here with a new "Last updated" date. If a change materially affects how we handle your information, we will notify customers by email.
